Prof. Dr. Abuzer Dirican

Prof. Abuzer Dirican, M.D., is a distinguished general surgeon specializing in liver transplantation and hepatobiliary surgery, currently serving as Head of the Department of General Surgery and Surgical Oncology at Istanbul Florence Nightingale Hospital. With more than two decades of clinical and academic experience, he is recognized for his expertise in living donor liver transplantation, complex gastrointestinal procedures, and surgical oncology.

Prof. Dirican completed his medical education at Hacettepe University Faculty of Medicine, followed by his specialization in General Surgery, which he obtained in 2000. He went on to build a long and productive academic career at İnönü University Faculty of Medicine and its Liver Transplant Institute, advancing through the ranks of Assistant Professor and Associate Professor before being appointed Professor of General Surgery in 2017.

His clinical practice covers a broad surgical spectrum, with particular emphasis on living donor liver transplantation, donor safety, and the management of vascular and biliary complications, as well as retransplantation. Beyond transplantation, his areas of expertise include colorectal and gastric cancer surgery, breast surgery and oncology, endocrine surgery, the surgical treatment of hydatid disease, and a wide range of minimally invasive laparoscopic procedures.

Prof. Dirican is an active contributor to the international medical literature, with numerous articles published in peer-reviewed journals, book chapters in respected surgical textbooks, and presentations delivered at major scientific congresses worldwide. His research interests span tumor biology, prognostic factors in oncologic surgery, and innovations in surgical technique.
